Book Launch Sussex History Folklore and Peopl with Chris Hare
This is no ordinary history book, but rather an exploration into a Sussex often overlooked by more formal histories. Here you will read about
witchcraft, Bonfire Night celebrations, and the riotous proceedings of the Skeleton Army. You will learn about the extraordinary contribution
that Sussex people have made to the cultural life of their county, such as Lucy Broadwood, the folk
song collector, and Hilaire Belloc, the renowned author and poet, whose book ‘The Four Men’ forever immortalises the county and
its history. There are also chapters on Victorian school days, Sussex dialect, and many other fascinating topics.
Author Chris Hare was born and raised in Sussex. He is well known for his books and articles on Sussex history and folklore and for
his ever popular illustrated talks and guided walks.
This book launch event will take place at Arundel Museum Saturday 20 June at 2pm. Chris Hare will be giving a presentation and then there will be a chance to buy the book.
